Sometimes partnerships are just perfect, and that's certainly the case with the Rathbone R3CECE. The naturally warm aesthetic and tonal colouring of the Solid Cedar top is complemented by the brilliance and sparkle of the Ebony back and sides. Ebony is a real hardwood so delivers a bright and voluminous sound with a little more low-end punch... plus it looks just incredible.

The perfect all-rounder, the No.3 has the same scale length as the Orchestra Model but body dimensions closer to a classic dreadnought. The larger body cavity naturally produces greater bass tones, but without sacrificing clarity, and that's the beauty of the Grand-Auditorium. However, a larger body does not mean an unwieldy instrument. Far from it, in fact. The beautiful curves around the waist of the Rathbone No.3 ensure the guitar will sit comfortably on a knee or hang perfectly from your shoulders.

I am new to acoustic guitars and last week spent a long time at our local guitar store (Kaj's Guitar Store, Enschede, Netherlands) and had a good look, listen and feel on a decent range of guitars from various brands and price ranges. The Rathbone No. 3 models quickly jumped out to me in all aspects: nice smooth action, beautiful design and finish, nice cutaway and of course most importantly of all: a totally AWESOME sound! It was less easy to choose "which no. 3" I liked best, but ... somehow I kept getting drawn most to the CECE with its lovely cedar - ebony combination. I hope and expect to have a lot of fun and nice times with this guitar!
